So when my sister ordered her tower garden up in the Washington DC area, we started looking into grow lights. I’m in Florida and we wanted to be planting at about the same time. This is interesting way to start your season early.

After further investigation, and with the desire to direct light to the side of my GT I visited my Home Depot store to check out their offering of compact florescent lights (CFL) / and LED bulbs and of course lamp fixtures. Here are the two that I recommend. Grow Bulbs
There’s not much difference in the light they provide. The LED Bulb provides more light 1250 Lumens compared to 1150 with the CFL. Both provide 5,000K daylight or full spectrum color. The LED’s are cooler and will save you a few dollars in energy cost per year. LED bulb $8.68 a year vs $11.08 for the CFL … That is for 12 hours a day…. The big difference is that the LED bulb is supposed to last 25,000 hours while the CFL only 7,884 hours. Both quite remarkable.
